Doug's Story

~DOB: 10/1/2022
Weight: 65 lbs
Energy level: Moderate
Overall drive: Low to Moderate
Location: Morgan Hill, CA
Why Choose This Dog? SQUIRREL! ...oh, sorry, Doug got excited again.
If you’ve seen Up, then you already know exactly who Doug is. This 65-pound bundle of joy is basically that lovable, slightly chaotic golden-hearted goof brought to life. Fresh off his surgery recovery, Doug has decided that every day is the best day ever and he would very much like to spend all of them in your lap (yes, all 65 pounds of him).
Doug is a professional greeter, part-time comedian, and full-time cuddle enthusiast. He approaches life at full speed with a wagging tail, a big grin, and the energy of “Hi! I’m Doug! I love you already!” His adorably crossed eyes add to the charm and while you may not know where he’s looking, but you will know he’s looking for love, snacks, or both.
He’s incredibly social with people and wants to be everyone’s best friend. With dogs, he’s still learning manners and his enthusiasm sometimes outpaces his skills, but it all comes from a place of pure joy. He’s house trained, crate trained, and sleeps through the night like a champ (unless he needs to politely request a blanket adjustment or fan service).
Doug’s love language is cuddles, belly rubs, and gentle “cobbing” (which he’s working on replacing with toys. He has achieved progress, not perfection!). He’s food motivated, eager to learn, and would thrive with someone who can give him structure while appreciating his goofy, oversized-puppy personality.
If you’ve got a lap, a sense of humor, and room for a little lovable chaos, Doug is ready to make your life infinitely brighter.
