Doug's Story

Meet Doug! This sweet, handsome boy was found as a stray and rescued from Chicago Animal Control. Doug is a young boy estimated to be 18 months old and weighs approximately 50 pounds. When he was found, shelter staff noticed Doug had nystagmus (involuntary eye movements) and his head seemed to be a bit shaky. The cause of these symptoms is unknown but doesn't seem to have any impact on him. Doug is currently in a foster home and does well with the resident female husky, senior chihuahua mix, and especially the cat! However out on walks, Doug has become reactive to other dogs. We would suggest a home outside of the city for Doug, ideally with a fenced yard. Doug is crate trained and working on basic obedience with his foster dad. Doug has been introduced to children and done very well! He is very sweet with people and loves to cuddle. Being a young GSD, he has a good amount of energy and would benefit from continued obedience training. His foster dad said he is a great boy that wants nothing more than to find his forever home!
