Dottie's Story

Meet Dottie!

This sweet 1-2 year old girl came to us from a high kill shelter in Imperial County, and she has absolutely blossomed into one of the happiest, most well-rounded dogs. Her foster family calls her the easiest foster they've ever had - and after spending five minutes with her, you'll understand why.

Potty & Crate Training
Fully potty trained with a dog door and backyard! She is an absolute star in her crate - loves taking naps in it, sleeps soundly all night, and finds it to be her safe space when she needs a break.

Dog & Cat Friends
She thrives with other dogs and loves playful, high-energy pals. She's great at sharing toys, has zero resource guarding, and takes corrections easily. She loves having space to zoom and romp and does best when new dog introductions happen naturally and at her pace. Cats are untested, but she shows low prey drive - indifferent to horses and even a little timid around birds!

Adventure Buddy
Dottie is active without being hyper - the perfect balance. She'd make an incredible running or hiking companion, and her athleticism and drive hint at serious agility dog potential. Her absolute favorite place on earth? The dog beach. She makes friends effortlessly, romps through the water like she owns it, and has an inexplicable but deeply passionate love for tackling and retrieving seaweed.

Human Companions & Behavior
A loyal shadow who bonds quickly! Quiet overall and rarely barks. She's willing to meet new people as long as they approach calmly and let her set the pace - and treats are always the fastest way to her heart. She's best with older kids who can handle enthusiastic play.

Ideal Home
Dottie would love a fenced yard and a playful dog companion to share her adventures with, but more than anything she just needs an active person who enjoys getting outside and a little familiarity with the herding breed personality. The right home doesn't need to be perfect, just a good match for an energetic and loving girl who gives back tenfold.

If you're interested in meeting Dottie, apply online to set up a meet and greet!
