Dottie's Story
In foster offsite, please call to make an appointment for viewing.

This sweet, timid girl came to us heavily pregnant from a hoarding situation and was quickly taken to a loving foster home where she gave birth shortly afterwards. Her puppies have since found new homes, but sweet Dottie is still searching for her forever person. She is very fearful and unsocialized, but she has shown us that she can learn to trust. During her intake, she allowed handling, and our volunteers have been able to leash her, pick her up, and carry her when needed.

She is unsure around strangers but warms up into a sweet, affectionate, snuggly girl once she learns a new person is safe. She is not currently comfortable walking on a leash and may become fearful or avoidant if approached too quickly.

This girl will need a patient adopter who understands that building her confidence will take time. A calm, confident, friendly canine companion may help her feel more secure and learn that people and new experiences can be safe.

She would do best with someone who has experience with fearful or unsocialized dogs and is willing to let her progress at her own pace. Her behavior around children is currently unknown, so a home without children or with older, dog-savvy children may be the safest starting point.

She has a long way to go, but with patience, consistency, and plenty of love, we hope to see this little girl discover the confidence she has never had the chance to build.
