Dorothy

Sweetest Dorothy was running out of time.

Not because she did anything wrong.

Not because she isn't wonderful.

But because she's old. And she'd been waiting too long.

Dorothy found herself on the euthanasia list because of her age & length of stay, two things that say absolutely nothing about the kind of dog she is.

And this girl is SUCH. A. LOVE.

Dorothy is a senior house hippo at around 8 years old with a big ol' head, a soft heart & the kind of sweet, soulful presence that makes you wonder how on earth nobody chose her sooner.

She gets along with other respectful dogs, loves her people & at this point in life, she isn't asking for much.

She just needs someone to make however many years she has left matter.

A soft bed.

A warm house.

Good snacks.

Slow mornings.

Someone who kisses that giant noggin and tells her she's beautiful. Because she is & she deserves it!

Her special someo

Slow mornings.

Someone who kisses that giant noggin and tells her she's beautiful. Because she is & she deserves it!

Her special someone will be a family who makes sure Dorothy never, ever has to wonder again whether she's wanted.

There is something especially heartbreaking about senior dogs ending up in shelters. They have already given humans so many years of their lives & then, when they need us most, they can become the easiest ones to overlook.

We refuse to let Dorothy be overlooked.
