Dorian's Story

Meet Dorian!

This sweet 28 lb. German Shepherd/Hound mix came to us from a North Carolina shelter after they reached out about his orthopedic issues affecting his rear legs. Our orthopedic specialist has evaluated him, and we’re currently in a “wait and see” phase. He's doing amazing so far! The vet recommended a high-quality puppy food and starting him on supplements—and Dorian has responded beautifully.

Before arriving to us, Dorian spent about a week in a foster home, and here’s what they had to say:

“Dorian has been an absolute joy to have in our home! He’s a sweet, playful pup who fit right in with our busy household and our three young children (ages 4 to 10). He loves playing with his big foster dog brother—their gentle tug-of-war games and daily zoomies are a highlight!

Dorian walks wonderfully on a leash and is easy to handle on neighborhood strolls. At home, he’s a happy, affectionate companion who adores attention and loves being near his people.

At bedtime, he settles easily in his crate and sleeps soundly through the night. Like any young pup, he has bursts of energy, but a good play session or chew toy helps him relax. He’s truly a remarkable dog!”

Dorian is now settling into his new environment at PWD, as his foster noted he has a great temperament with other pups and humans!

With continued care and monitoring, we’re hopeful for a bright future for this special pup. And he won’t be facing it alone—if Dorian ever needs surgery or advanced medical care for his orthopedic condition, PWD will be there every step of the way to support him. Our commitment to his well-being is for life and we're prepared to give him everything he needs to thrive.
