Dora's Story

Hey, my name is Dora. I am six years old and I weigh over fifty pounds. I came to the rescue after I was found in the woods with a new puppy. Sadly, I had five but when they found me there had been a lot of rain and only one was alive. I did my best but there was so much water. Anyways, I took care of Daisy until she was old enough to leave my side and its time for me to find a home of my own. I did have a home for awhile but they returned me to the rescue because they said their life was going to change in a big way and I didn't fit in anymore. Oh well, can you love me forever?? I feel young and playful. I like most other dogs and cats don't really interest me...to be honest I don't care about chickens either. I must confess I like the male dogs better, well they are so handsome! Toys are ok and running in the fenced yard is fun. Please don't misunderstand I want to live in the house with you and just play and potty outside. I have been working with a trainer and all my basic manners. Do you have time to spend with me? I get so excited to see you. I want to love you and have a real home I can call ours. I have been spay, vaccinated and microchipped. I am current on heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. My adoption fee is 150.00. The first step in adopting me is to complete an application for Dora at dogsasfamily.org. I think a home and family is the best thing ever.

Dogs As Family, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
All of our kids are in foster homes where they are treated as family with enormous amounts of love and top quality medical attention to insure they are in good health. Each kid is spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots and tested for heartworm, Lyme and Ehrlichia prior to being placed in their forever home.  Each of our kids are loved for who they are, we evaluate for personality and temperament so we can place them with their new families. When time allows, we house-train and begin teaching basic obedience. Many of our dogs participate in the Dogs of Lexington program allowing them behavioral fine-tuning during the inmate training program.   Our adoption process begins with submitting an adoption application through our website at http://www.dogsasfamily.com/forms/ We do not ship furry family members. We can do out of state adoptions if you are able to travel to Oklahoma City to meet with
