Doogie's Story

Doogie is a 5 year old 85lbs calm and mellow lab mix. He was found as a stray and then adopted several years ago. Unfortunately, his human recently went into hospice. He lost his home, his brother, and landed in the shelter. Someone came and adopted him, but as soon as he entered the house, the husband of the adopter said "no dogs allowed" and he was thrown out because not everyone in the household was on the same page. When we heard his story and seen his amber soulful eyes in person, how could we not help?!

Doogie is pretty perfect. He's neutered, up to date on vaccines, potty trained, has good house manners. He walks beautifully on his leash except when squirrels are involved. He does have a special set of skills to help him hop over a 4ft fence and squeeze out of his crate. It is almost as if he is able to turn into liquid. He's great with kids, other dogs, and cats too! Doogie's friendly, sweet, gentle nature is PERFECT for someone looking for a new therapy dog partner.

Doogie's perfect home is one with:
- His human who is home most of the day
- Either a fenced in yard with a 6ft fence, or a home without a fence for him to be leash walked
- Humans who will allow him to be engaged with the world (like do therapy work or meet up with friends for lunch)

If you live in DC/MD/NoVa and can give this gentle sweet boy a warm soft place to live happily ever after, please fill out an application for him on our website to begin the process: https://forms.gle/cmXYvopHbbknXE5w7
