Being a black pittie mix and not a "baby, baby", Donovan sat in the shelter for 3 months. Unable to exercise, Donovan began to become overly frustrated. We had met and worked with Donovan on a trip to GA and knew he had tremendous amounts of potential... so... Donovan became a TLR dog. Donovan is living with our resident trainer, and spent a week at the esteemed Peaceable Paws basic manners training academy. He knows his cues well. Sit, down, targeting, he walks well on a leash. Donovan is toy and treat motivated. He is still working on his impulse control and will need a human dedicated to continuing his force free training. (His foster mom and our resident trainer will provide sessions at no charge!) Due to his exuberance Donovan will be best right now in an adult home, and likely as an only child. Please know that Donovan is EVERYTHING friendly, he just needs to continue to work on himself!! Donovan would love a friendly, high energy person to call his own. He would play, hike, run, whatever all day with his person. Or just hang out on the couch and watch TV!!!! He is still a young guy at just a year old, and hasn't had the opportunity to develop into the dog we know he can be.
