Donna's Story

Oh hey, I'm Donna. I'm a "dignified" older lady ready to enjoy my retirement years in the lap of luxury. I love nothing more than settling down for a nap with a good Nylabone and rolling around on my bed making funny sounds. Sometimes I'll stay with my legs in the air, just waiting to be doted on. I like chest rubs the best, but I'll take any kind of gentle petting. I can be a bit shy but once I'm getting scritches, I'm under your spell. When I'm outdoors, I like to stand in the middle of the play yard and listen to everything going on, even when other dogs play around me. Every once and a while I'll get the zoomies and play a little chase, but sometimes I just want to be serious. I get along with most dogs but do prefer ones that will respect my personal space when I'm not feeling it. I would likely also do well with older kids who can understand that I'm not always up for games.

I also like taking long walks. I won't even pull on the leash. Because I'm a hound, I should have a fenced yard or someone committed to keeping me on a leash while outside.

I know sit and am very treat motivated. I take them gently like a pro. I am not formally housetrained, but I will likely take to it easily. I would really rather potty while out on a walk or running around the yard.

I've got some lumps and bumps but doc said everything checks out as unconcerning at the moment. I'm due for a dental, though. Potential adopters can either meet me and then wait for my teeth to be cleaned here, or schedule an appointment with their own vet.

For more information, please email our adoption coordinator at adoptions@abrint.net
