Doc's Story

Doc is a retired breeding dog who is finally getting his chance to learn what life as a beloved family pet is all about!

Doc has spent most of his life in a kennel, so many of the things we take for granted with our pets are completely new to him. He isn't used to being held or being around lots of people, and he is still learning that human attention and affection can be wonderful things. He's not quite sure what to think of all these new experiences, but with a little patience and kindness, we believe he will start to come out of his shell.

One thing Doc does know is other dogs! He has spent far more time around dogs than people throughout his life, so he gets along well with his canine friends. Having another friendly, confident dog in his new home might even help him learn the ropes!

Doc will need a patient and understanding family willing to give him the time and space to adjust to life outside of a kennel. A home with older children, or younger children who understand the importance of being gentle and taking things slowly, would be best for him. He may not be ready to jump into someone's lap for cuddles right away, but we hope that someday he will discover just how wonderful those cuddles can be!

Doc is current on his vaccinations and will be neutered and receive a dental cleaning before leaving the shelter.

Doc has spent his life being a breeding dog. Now it's his turn to just be someone's dog. A soft bed, a gentle hand, a little patience, and a family to call his own could change his entire world.
