Dobby's Story

Dobby came into rescue because his family did not feel that they could give him the time he deserved. Because of work and school schedules, Dobby spent a lot of time in a crate so he is crate trained but was never fully housebroken so whoever adopts him will need to work with him to get him fully trained to potty outside. Dobby is a playful, fun boy who just loves life. He is bouncy and spunky and comes running like a little rabbit when he's called. Dobby is adorable inside and out. He is alittle shy initially but he overcomes that quickly. It's pretty normal anyway when they go to a new place but he really has had no issues adjusting after a day or two. He gets along well with the other small dogs here and he was raised with kids so he does fine with kids, as well. He should be fine with cats with a proper introduction although we don't know if he has ever been around cats (we do not have any here to test him with). We were told that Dobby is a schnauzer/chihuahua mix and is about a year old so he is a young boy with lots of potential and some great years ahead of him. The girls after the vet loved Dobby and he does tend to win hearts with his happy go lucky, lovable nature. If you are looking for a fun dog who would love to go on adventures with you, consider sweet Dobby! He will make a wonderful companion!
Dobby saw the vet on 10/14/26 and was found to have no issues on his exam. He tested negative for heartworms and we have started him on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention. He was also positive for hookworms on his fecal so we have dewormed him with Drontal. He may need a follow up in 3-4 weeks. Dobby weighed 9.79 pounds as of 10/14/26.
If interested in giving Dobby his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Dobby's adoption fee will be $300 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Dobby based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
