Meet DJ!<br/><br/>DJ is a 7-month-old Hound mix with a sweet spirit and a heart full of potential. Weighing approximately 30 pounds, this handsome boy is the perfect medium size and still growing into his paws. At his current foster in the south, he has proven to be a great hiking partner. DJ is neutered and will be arriving on transport on 3/15, ready to start his next chapter with a loving family.<br/><br/>DJ is well behaved in the house and his crate, and he settles in nicely once he understands the routine. DJ is housebroken, though like any dog moving to a new home he’ll need a little patience while he learns his new environment and schedule.<br/><br/>He’s not destructive, but he does love to chew, so having plenty of good chew toys available will help keep him happy and occupied. One of DJ’s funniest quirks is that he actually prefers raw carrots to most dog treats!<br/><br/>DJ absolutely loves playing with other dogs and would likely enjoy a canine companion to play and grow with. He plays respectfully and is very responsive if another dog gives him a warning that playtime is getting too rough. He’s not food aggressive, though he hasn’t quite learned that other dogs’ bowls aren’t fair game if they’re left unattended.<br/><br/>Walks are one of DJ’s favorite things. He especially enjoys carrying a stick in his mouth during the walk, which adds to the fun. He can be a bit of a puller, but with a gentle leader or consistent leash training he should improve quickly. He’s also starting to get the hang of retrieving tennis balls and sticks.<br/><br/>And like any good hound, DJ has a fantastic howl! Luckily, he tends to save his hound howling for appropriate moments—most of the time he’s actually a pretty quiet dog.<br/><br/>Like many young hounds, DJ will thrive with a family who can provide structure, exercise, and plenty of affection.
