Dixon's Story

Dixon is a 65-pound sweetheart who has come an incredibly long way. He spent the first three years of his life living in a dirt pen underneath a deck, yet somehow he came out of that experience as one of the kindest, most forgiving dogs you could meet.

Dixon is extremely dog-friendly and absolutely loves his canine friends. He is wonderful at reading other dogs and naturally respects their boundaries and communication. He also loves people, pets, and giving kisses.

Dixon struggles in a kennel environment. He may become tense or anxious behind kennel doors, and he doesn't always show his true personality when meeting someone for the first time. He has never been aggressive, but the shelter environment can make it difficult for him to feel comfortable enough to let his sweet personality shine.

If you're interested in meeting Dixon, please ask to meet him outside of his kennel. One of our volunteers will be happy to assist and give you the opportunity to see the real Dixon... the happy, affectionate, playful dog we know and love.

Dixon deserves someone willing to look past the nerves and give him the chance to show you who he really is.

Dixon is currently in foster care and is not physically located at our facility. If you are interested in setting up a time to meet Dixon, please reach out to haveaheartpetshelter@gmail.com or call 870-449-7387.
