Meet Dixie, a sweet Shepherd/Terrier mix born in July 2022 who weighs 50 pounds of pure love. We rescued her from Guadalupe Animal Control on the very day she was scheduled to be euthanized, giving her a second chance at life—and now she’s ready to find her forever home. Dixie is incredibly affectionate and has been wonderful with every person she’s met at the shelter. She radiates warmth and seems to have a natural way of making everyone feel special. While we haven’t introduced her to other dogs at our shelter yet, videos from Guadalupe show her meeting several dogs, and she got along beautifully. Dixie is the kind of dog who will bring joy, loyalty, and endless cuddles to the lucky family that opens their hearts to her. Bulverde Area Humane Society's Adoption Policy

Our adoption procedure begins with the completion of the Adoption Contract, which can be downloaded on our website at www. bulverdeareahumanesociety.com Your new friend will be ready for their new home after review by one of our Adoption Counselors. All of our animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption and have been tested for heartworm or feline leukemia / aids. They all have their age appropriate vaccinations. All puppies, dogs & kittens are microchipped. If you're considering adopting a dog who will join one already in your home. We encourage Meet and Greets. Visiting dogs must be spayed or neutered and have proof of current vaccinations. Talk to a staff member about scheduling your Meet and Greet session before coming out with your dog. And thanks for considering a shelter pet!
