Elvis certainly was not singing about Dixie! Yes, she is a hound dog but she definitely does NOT cry all the time. In fact, this beautiful girl is quite the opposite.

Dixie is an 80lb, 1 year old Hound mix. She has no reason to cry and neither does her foster family. She is house and kennel trained. She knows sit, lay down, out, down, drop it, kennel, come, potty, and leave it. She also has very good recall both in the house and outside.
If Elvis had met her, we think his song would have had some very different lyrics.

Dixie plays great with other dogs and loves to chase. If there is a dog that runs, you can guarantee that she is going to chase it. She has never caught any though, because when they stop running, she stops chasing. She is currently living with a cat. If a cat walks around the house she just watches. When it does run, she tends to chase as well. It is important the cat has a safe place to go where Dixie is not allowed. Dixie is also currently living with a nine-year-old child in which she loves! She has so much fun and anyone with active kids would have a great time with her!

Dixie is working on her leash manners. She thinks every passerby should be her friend so she requires redirection. She does not appear to need a lot of excessive exercise other than some good old fetch in the backyard This lovely lady is very good at playing by herself with a chew toy or a bone. She will destroy any stuffie within a couple of minutes. I mean come on; they are irresistible!

Dixie is super friendly and loves attention. She will give you a strong nose nudge or a paw to get her pets. She is very affectionate and wants to be with her people but she is also very good at chewing on a toy or bone for hours.

Dixie is currently living in a home with a 6ft privacy fence. She will chase furry little critters and bounce her front feet off the fence. It will be important to ensure the fence is sturdy and her area is escape proof, no under fence escape areas.
