Dixie's Story
Age: 2 Years
Weight: 39 lbs.
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Curious
Good with kids: Yes-Older
Energy Level: Med-High
Available for Adoption: 8/8/2020 (Accepting applications Now) - Applications need to be approved before a meet and greet will be set up for any Fetching Hearts Rescue dogs.

Meet Dixie!!! This sweet girl came into the shelter as a stray. She was very timid and scared as first. When she got to her foster's home, and was with other dogs, she opened right up. Dixie will need a home with another dog, as she follows their leads and feels comfortable with friends. We would recommend possibly having a fenced in yard as well. Dixie loves running around with a smile on her face at all times. She loves playing with the dogs and even cats. We feel with her being shy in the beginning, she will need older kids in the home to give her space. Once she knows them and understands all is good, then we say the race is on. Dixie would love running around the yard with the kids!!! We would love to see Dixie learn what toys are, as we believe she would have lots of fun chasing them. She would do well going to training with you and your family. That would help her gain the trust and understanding. Let's get this girl the forever home she truly deserves!!! Are you her family??

If you would like more information on Dixie, please contact Dean at
Screening.FetchingHearts@gmail.com.

Unless otherwise indicated, all dogs adopted through Fetching Hearts have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (Kennel Cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming, Microchip, Flea and Tick Prevention and Heartworm Prevention.

Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

VETTING NOTE: Fetching Hearts Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.

HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
