Dina's Story

Thought to be about 1 year old, I have already had my first litter of puppies. A concerned citizen reported me to this rescue when I was found roaming my neighborhood in search of food. Due to using all my nutrients to feed my 9 puppies, I am underweight. My rescuers are slowly building me back up to where I need to be. I am a female Pit/Husky mix. I have been brought up to date on my vaccinations. My intake exam is this week, October 9. I will be tested for heartworms and parasites, as well as get a comprehensive examination.

At 1 year of age, I was left to roam my neighborhood. When I was in my first heat, I became pregnant with 9 puppies. Because I had no supporting structure, and was forced to roam in search of food, I took refuge under a giant trash pile to birth my puppies. There, for 2 weeks, I cared for and protected them. I roamed the neighborhood in search of what scraps I could find, and happened upon a good samaritan's porch. I was reported to this rescue, and taken in. Now I am on a balanced diet to help gain some much needed weight, and support the nutrient requirements that my growing puppies need, which are supplied in my milk. I will not be ready to be adopted until my puppies are weaned within the next few weeks, and I am spayed. I look to be ready in November 2025. Even though my humans failed me, I have much love for everyone that I meet. Because I am so young, I do still have a lot of energy. I recommend no small children. I don't bite, but I may jump up in excitement and knock them down. I have so much love to give. I thoroughly enjoy a good back scratch and belly rub. A fence and supervision is definitely needed. Because I was left to roam in search of food, I will wander.
