I sleep a lot but still love to play and be active.<br/><br/>Things I do in my free time: I love to play with and chew on my toys. I also love being outside and going for walks.<br/><br/>Things I know: I know my name, sit, lay down, bang-bang tells me to play dead, come, go, eat or hut to release me to my food, and no.<br/><br/>Things I am learning/currently working on: I am working on holding still with a treat on my nose and with the over excitement I get with visitors. I don’t jump on visitors, but I just cannot get close enough to them sometimes. I do leave them alone when my owners tell me to lay down.<br/><br/>Who I currently live with (humans and animals): I currently live with 2 adults (1 male and 1 female), a pre-teen child (female), a teenager (male), and a small lap dog (female). I have been around my children since toddler and pre-school ages.<br/><br/>How I do with kids: I love kids and can be protective of them, but never mean. I have been around kids my entire life. I’ve been around toddlers and pre-school aged children and do just fine. I might knock them over or accidentally tail whip them with my excitement. I’ve never been around babies, but I think I would be just fine with them.<br/><br/>How I do with dogs: I have been around dogs my size and much smaller and do just fine with them. I have never been around a dog that is larger than me. I love to play with other dogs like tug of war and fetch/racing to the ball. I am often the submissive dog when sharing my toys with my smaller friends.<br/><br/>How I do with cats: I like to chase after squirrels if they are in my back yard, so I am betting that I would chase a cat in my backyard as well. I never attack or get mean, I just love the chase. I’ve seen a few cats at the veterinarian office and am very interested in getting to know their smells, gently.<br/><br/>My current size: I have put on some weight in my older years. I would guess my current weight is around 85 to 90 pounds. I’m a pretty solid beefcake.<br/><br/>How I do in my kennel: It’s been a few years since I’ve had to be in a kennel, but never had issues with it in the past. I’ve been trained and able to stay in the open house for many years now. A few years ago I stayed at a doggy retreat while my owners were away and I did just fine there as well.<br/><br/>How I do in car rides: I love car rides, but it is a lot harder to get into and out of my owners vehicles the past couple of years. A low rider would be more my style. Once in the car I sit in the back seat and watch out the window, or lay down.<br/><br/>Am I house trained?: I am house trained. I don’t have accidents at all. I usually sit by the door when I want to go out.<br/><br/>Additional Info from foster: My ears get really itchy sometimes. It gets better when my owners clean them and put some of that natural ear care stuff in them. I had lyme disease a few years ago back and had difficulty walking. I can now walk and run without difficulty, but never really regained my full original level of activity, but I’m also not a young pup anymore. I’ve had some issues with vomiting since that illness also, even with additional antibiotics. The vomiting seems to get worse in connection with when my ears start acting up as well. My humans have had to really keep a close eye on my ears for me. I eat a Diamond Naturals Sensitive Skin formula food twice a day. My humans soak the food in water, as recommended by my veterinarian. This seems to help with my tummy issues as well. I am one of the most well trained pooches ever; at least that is what people tell me.
