Diesel came to us from a partnering county shelter, and sadly, we are his third and longest home. After being adopted from a county shelter, he was later found as a stray in another county with no one coming to claim him. It’s been a long road for this sweet guy, but he’s continued to show us what a devoted and affectionate companion he can be once he feels safe.<br/><br/>Diesel doesn’t show his best side in the kennel, but once he’s outside and with people he knows, he’s calm, gentle, and loves soaking up attention. Around strangers, Diesel can be timid and fearful. He needs time to get to know new people, and several slow, positive meet and greets will help him build trust.<br/><br/>He’s looking for a dog-savvy adopter who understands that he’ll need patience and consistency as he transitions to life outside the shelter. Diesel would do best as the only pet in a mature, low-traffic home with no children—somewhere quiet and predictable where he can relax and continue to blossom.<br/><br/>With understanding and time, Diesel will show his true heart: a loyal, affectionate companion who just wants to love and be loved in return.
