Hi! My name is Diesel but my close friends call me Perfect or Bestest Boy. They tell me I have a sunny, sweet disposition. I’m not sure exactly what that means but they always say it with a big smile on their face so it makes me happy. I like to "hold hands" with my human friends, or give them my paw just to let them know how much I appreciate them. I love to play! Stuffed toys are my favorite. And I like yummy treats and WALKS! I could use some help fine tuning my leash manners but I’m a good student and promise to practice as much as you want so we can be ready to explore the world together!<br/><br/>For the last 6 months I’ve been living at Long Beach Animal Care Services shelter in Long Beach, CA. When I first got here I had a pretty bad skin infection. My skin was red, swollen and sore. I lost a lot of fur. Some days the infection was so bad it made my tummy upset. I really didn’t feel well. My friends at the shelter ran some tests and found out I have allergic dermatitis. It had gone on untreated for so long I had a bacterial infection too. They started giving me medicine, medicated baths and special food to help me feel better. I’m on the road to recovery now but the shelter isn't the best place for me truly heal. I know there are a lot of good dogs looking for homes right now but I'm posting this hoping someone will pick me! I'd really love to find a forever home to call my own but if you're not ready for a long term commitment just yet maybe you could talk to my friends at K9 Kismet about being my foster parent. Playful, but ZERO possessiveness over toys. Friendly and loving, but gentle and sweet. Diesel LOVES people! His interaction with other dogs while at the shelter has been limited but he does seem to want to engage/play with other social dogs his size. Have not seen him around small dogs or cats. Diesel is food motivated and takes treats nicely. He is good in the bath tub! He will need some help with his leash manners, he is a strong dog and will try to pull when he gets excited, but he is smart and eager to please so we are confident he will learn quickly with a dedicated handler.<br/><br/>Medical: Allergies that will require special diet, medicated baths and periodic veterinary care.
