Diego's Story

Carmen and Diego were found wandering the Antelope Valley desert of California in early 2024. After extensive searching, their family were never found, which leads us to presume they may have been two of the many dogs dumped in the open desert to fend for themselves. They've been inseparable since the day they were found! They're friendly with everyone they meet and follow direction very well. They love treats, walks, being with people, and car rides. Both are highly food motivated and extremely intelligent.

Unfortunately their finder was unable to take them back after their initial vetting, so they've been in boarding for a year and a half now and desperately need a furever or foster home- will you open your heart and home to show them what a dogs life should really be?

Carmen and Diego are still in boarding in California until a kind person welcomes them into their home to adopt or foster. They can stay together or be separated.

Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa.

Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio.
