She doesn't yet seek out affection, but she’s bravely learning to accept gentle touches and is even taking treats directly from her foster’s hand. She doesn’t want to be held—yet—but she’s making progress every day. With trust and time, she may blossom further, but DiDi will always be a dog’s dog. For this reason, a calm home with at least one well-balanced canine companion (or two!) is not just recommended—it’s essential. She’s great with other small dogs, and while she hasn't played with them much yet (likely due to past pain), there are glimpses that a playful side is ready to emerge now that she’s healing.<br/><br/>This brave little girl recently underwent surgery (FHO) to repair a severely damaged hip, a condition she likely suffered from most of her life. Despite the pain she endured, DiDi never lost her gentle nature. Her recovery is going incredibly well—she’s no longer in pain, and she’s on track to regain full function. There may always be a little “hitch” in her gait, but no further medical intervention is expected. Her spirit is unshaken, and she’s even been conquering water-treadmill rehab like a champ!<br/><br/>DiDi needs a very special adopter—someone who understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddles and wagging tails. Someone patient, gentle, and understanding of her past.
