Dewey's Story
Dewey is a gentle giant, who loves both humans and his fur-sibling. Despite his impressive size, Dewey treads lightly in the world. He very rarely barks and makes his needs known quietly, walking to a door when he wants to go potty, entering the kitchen when he’s hungry, gazing soulfully into human eyes or mewling softly when he’d like some love.

During his time in foster care, Dewey has never had an accident, raided a trash can, stolen a fur-sibling’s toy, or destroyed a single item of human property. He’s a quick learner and mastered stairs in no time. He may have even set a new record for learning to follow the house rules.

Dewey is an older gent, which may help to explain his especially calm and gentle demeanor. Dewey loves the comforts of soft beds, warm blankets, tasty food, ear rubs, and good companionship. He often shows his gratitude for such things with deep sighs of contentment. Dewey also loves going for walks, where he can be captivated by the sights and smells he encounters. When meeting a passerby, he will often lift his eyes to theirs, and almost always elicits a smile, a pat, and some kind words. He brings out the good in those he meets and gives them an occasion to smile.

Dewey has soft, fawn colored fur and big brown eyes. He weighs eight-five pounds. Dewey can be an only dog or live with canine companions and will need a home without cats.

If you want a sweet, gentle, affectionate, smart, and loving companion, Dewey just might be the one!

We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.
