He came to us from a rural shelter painfully thin and unsure of the world,but oh, how things have changed. With good groceries, a steady routine, and lots of love (especially from Beth, Director & Head Kibble Dealer and volunteers Bree, Ben, etc), Desi has found his stride and his sparkle.<br/><br/>You may remember Desi as one half of the Desi & Lucy duo. Lucy has already landed her happily-ever-after - now it’s Desi’s turn.<br/><br/>This leggy, handsome boy greets his people with his whole heart worn right on his sleeve. He is a hugger, a people-lover, and a total affection sponge. If you’ve got hands, he’d like them on him, please. All the love. All the time.<br/><br/>The good stuff:<br/><br/>Loves people more than anything<br/>Food-motivated and eager to learn (easy to train with consistency)<br/>Doing well with kennel training when kept on a schedule<br/>Settles nicely once routines are established<br/><br/>A few honest notes:<br/><br/>He gained weight slowly and successfully but may attempt to convince new families he’s still starving (beagle gonna beagle). Should be around around 28 lbs or so. Shoulder height a bit over 15 but thin build.<br/><br/>Can be a bit shy at first, then warms up fast<br/>Sometimes an excited “tinkle” if he’s waited too long - much improved with routine<br/>Can be kennel-loud initially but settles<br/>Plays best with easygoing female dogs<br/>Can get overly excited (and a little humpy) with other dogs at first stressing them out<br/>Might be too jumpy for small children or tiny dogs<br/>Cats are an unknown<br/><br/>His dream home:<br/><br/>Desi would absolutely sell his left kidney for a fenced yard and an active family who wants a fun, affectionate beagle to grow with, train, and love. House time, structure, and human connection are key - he thrives when he’s part of the action.<br/><br/>Looking for a lovable young beagle you can shape into the very best family member? Choose me.
