Dennis's Story
Meet Dennis! The best boy waiting for his forever!

Age: 6 months

Dennis has already been on quite a journey and he’s just getting started. When he first arrived, he was terrified of everything even his own shadow. But with time, love, and gentle guidance, he’s slowly discovering that the world can be a safe and kind place.

He’s learning that correction doesn’t mean he’s in danger, that people can be trusted, and that love is something steady and safe. He’s built a strong bond with his foster mom and is now starting to relax around others in the home. Dennis is still a sensitive boy, skittish, especially around new people and dogs. He tends to lean into his person for reassurance and prefers to have his back against something when he’s unsure. But each day brings a little more confidence: he’s begun to watch people move around curiously instead of fearfully, and he’s even started to play in short bursts.

He’s crate trained and sees his crate as his safe place. He eats and drinks well (three meals a day right now as he gains a bit of weight), and he’s working on house training, he’ll need a patient adopter to help him fully understand how to signal when he needs to go outside.

Dennis would do best in a calm, structured home with no small children, as he’s still learning boundaries and can be easily overwhelmed. He needs someone patient and kind — a person who can set limits with love, help him feel secure, and continue the incredible work his foster has started.

Once Dennis trusts you, he’s all heart — sweet, loyal, and deeply loving. He’s a survivor who just needs the right person to show him that he’s finally home, safe, and loved for life.
