Dee Nice's Story

My name is Denise... pronounced "Dee-NICE."

Yes, like the substitute teacher comedy skit. Apparently, that name is running rampant at the shelter right now — we just need an "A-A Ron" to complete the cast! But hey, I embrace it. Denise fits me just fine.

I’m a 2-year-old Husky mix who arrived on February 3, 2026, from the Rice Street area here in West Memphis. A kind lady saw me almost get hit by a car and made sure I got safely to the shelter. I’m so grateful she stepped in — who knows where I’d be otherwise?

Let me tell you a little about myself.

I’m super sweet, housebroken, and I absolutely love being outside in the sunshine. These days the weather is hit or miss, but when the sun does come out, you’ll find me right in the middle of the yard, sitting peacefully and soaking up every warm ray. It’s my happy place.

When I first arrived, though, I wasn’t feeling so great. I had a severe skin condition and two badly infected ears. My ears hurt so much that I shook them constantly — sometimes so hard I’d get dizzy and lightheaded. One treatment later and my ears are clear! The relief was incredible. No one should have to live with ear pain and no help.

As for my skin — it wasn’t mange and it wasn’t ringworm. It was a terrible yeast infection covering much of my body. I’m currently in treatment and doing really well. My fur should be growing back in beautifully before long.

Right now, I may not look like much... but trust me.

I have crystal blue eyes, and when you meet me, you’ll understand. There’s something special there. I have a calm, gentle presence and a heart ready to belong to someone.

Here’s my health update:
· Heartworm negative
· Up to date on vaccines
· Spay coming soon

While I’m healing and waiting, I wanted you to know I’m here — and I’m in the market for a loving home and family.

If you’re looking for a sweet, sunshine-loving girl with striking blue eyes and a heart full of gratitude, come meet Dee-NICE.

I think you’ll know I’m the one. ????
