General Notes | Saved last minute from the euthanasia list (due to space) with her six puppies, Mama Corona's story is a sad and stark reality of rescue in Houston. This girl is sweet sweet sweet, and so adoring, friendly, and happy! Dumped with her babies in a big city shelter, she was red coded three times prior to MHLM stepping in. She's great with dogs, cats, kids, and her own babies! ; ) This sweet girl deserves the best life of love in Colorado, and we can't wait to help her find her forever family! Want to adopt this dog? Personality | My goodness, there is no sweeter, snuggler, or happier girl than Corona! She is absolutely amazing and has the best demeanor. She loves giving lots of kisses and will happily soak up all the love you have to give. Now that she no longer has to take care of her puppies, her inner playful puppy has really started to come out and shine! She thinks its absolutely hilarious to steal her foster moms shoes and sandals and hide them. And when Corona is in a playful mood, she makes sure everyone knows shes ready for a good time! Corona also loves looking out the window and keeping an eye on the neighborhood. She is the cutest little nosy neighbor and takes her job as neighborhood watch guard very seriously! Corona is the perfect mix of sweet, cuddly, silly, and playful, and she is sure to bring so much joy and love to her forever family. Story | MHLM was alerted to Corona and her puppies when they were put on the EU list due to space. The rescue asked for an extension three times to see if anyone would save this family to no avail, so we stepped in! Now Corona and the kids are thriving in foster, and can't wait for their forever in CO! Other Dogs | Great with other dogs!Cats | Corona is very interested in making friends with her foster familys senior cat and would absolutely love to be best friends! Unfortunately, the feeling isnt quite mutual, as the senior cat prefers to keep to herself. Corona has had a little trouble understanding the rejection because she really just wants to be friends! She is very curious and social with the cat and would likely do best with slow introductions and a cat who is comfortable with a playful, friendly dog.Children | Loves littles! Training | In progress!Leash | In progress!Activity Level | Moderate - your typical lab!Health Notes | Corona is low heartworm positive, but MHLM covers the cost of treatment, and dogs go on to live happy, healthy lives!Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
