Daxton's Story

Hi I’m Daxton!
41lbs
Neutered
Between 1 1/2-2 years old

My friends call me Dax (or Velcro, for reasons you’ll quickly understand).

I’m a happy, goofy, people-loving guy who truly believes I should be wherever you are. Sitting? I’m there. Standing up? Also there. Taking one single step? Wow, exciting, I’m coming too. I really love my people and sticking by their side is kind of my thing.

I’m doing great with house training — I haven’t had any accidents and I’m very polite about going outside. I don’t really “signal,” but if you take me out, I’ll handle my business like a pro. Just make sure I potty before playtime, because once I’m playing with dog friends… well… playtime is LIFE.

My crate is my safe space. I like to eat my meals, enjoy bones, and stash my toys in there, and I sleep through the night like a champ. If you leave the house, I might sing you the song of my people when you come back (I just missed you, okay?!). If you’re home though, I’d much rather be hanging out with you.

I LOVE other dogs. Like… love love. So much that I once jumped a fence just to go say hi to the neighbor dogs. No regrets. I live with dogs, kids (big and little!), and even a cat — I’m curious about the cat, but I’ve learned my manners after she made it very clear she’s not interested in my friendship.

Kids? Obsessed.
Dogs? Best friends.
Cats? Respectfully admired from a distance.

I enjoy plush toys, Nyla-bone style chews, and playing fetch… although returning the ball is still under review. I’m playful, affectionate, and a total snuggle bug once I’m tired out.

I’m working on my leash skills and my jumping — I get excited and sometimes forget that not everyone wants a flying hug. I know “sit,” and I’m learning “off,” and I’m trying my best because I’m a good boy who wants to make you proud.

A few important things you should know about me:
• Car rides make me a little nervous
• Windy days are suspicious
• I eat my food very fast
• I have been caught stealing “treats” from the litter box (I’m sorry, I have regrets)

Overall, I’m a loving, playful, loyal guy with a big heart and a bigger personality. If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you endlessly, follow you everywhere, and make your house feel extra full of love — I might just be your perfect match!

Interested in adopting? Submit an adoption application on our website rescuedrascalsil.org!

We will review your application at our earliest convenience. If your application is selected, we will contact you for a phone interview. From there, we’d schedule a meet and greet with the dog to make sure it is a great fit for adoption for the whole family and any other dogs in your home.

Questions about adoption?
