Dasher's Story

Would you like to spend the holidays or start the new year with the most dapper young man? Then this tiny reindeer is for you! Meet Dasher. Or in his foster home, because no one can hear correctly anymore - Jasper. He answers to both. Dasher is a small dog with a big heart. He weighs just 12.5 pounds and has the heart of a bossy bully.

Dasher is three years old and a Chi mix. He has the apple shaped head and could be mixed with a papillon or a rat terrier. His ears and extra fur coat around his neck suggest it. He has a wound tattoo on his little snout that has improved with time, but it gives him character. If you want a dog with a great personality who is dramatic too, here is your boy.

Dasher was found as a stray in Kentucky and came to his foster family on a transport right before Thanksgiving. He had barely a chance to settle in with the resident dog before 15 additional people piled into the house for the feast. He was a rock star. Entertaining everyone, tolerating small children well (with lots of supervision) and finding warm laps to snuggle in.

He regularly takes toys and treats away from the poor resident dog who weighs in at 60 pounds. He seems to be house trained and asks to go outside. He is crate trained. He is a tiny dog with delicate bones and needs a gentle family. He would do best in a home with school age children or adults. (He was toddler tested but he is too thin to be left alone with a child that does not understand how to care for him.) Dasher lives up to his name and will make a run for it if not contained with an open door. He walks politely on a leash, but loves to roam and explore, so a fenced in yard or a family committed to walking him several times a day is needed.

Adoption fee is $375 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only.

STS is a foster-based and volunteer-run rescue. We do not have a physical location or set hours for you to meet dogs, and it does take time to answer each inquiry. All dogs are in foster homes and once an application is approved and a home visit is completed you will be able to schedule meet and greets with available dogs. We encourage interested individuals to get approved prior to searching as it helps expedite the process. A Petfinder inquiry is not a substitute for an application.
