Dash

The rescue is looking for a foster to adopt home for this sweet boy! Dash was found in the Baltimore area roaming in front of a grocery store with another puppy at a mere 8 weeks of age. After the wonderful SPCA in the area brought him to safety is was determined Dash had a life threatening but 100% curable heart defect that needed the proper surgery to fix. Dash had a Patent Ductus Arteriosus which is highly curable if surgery is done asap. <br/>The SPCA put out a plea for a rescue to help and sadly no other rescues offered to help this boy probably due to the cost of surgery (5k) <br/>We decided we were going to do all we can to help him and we got him to TN. Dash had his PDA surgery about 10 days ago and is doing wonderful. He has a follow up next week to get his stitches out. The rescue is looking for a foster to adopt situation for this boy since currently he is being fostered by the founder of the rescue and she has a senior boy with some medical issues and Dash is a bit much for him. He can play and be a puppy but he can't be someone's running partner or hiking buddy until we get the all clear in a few months. We fully expect this to be the case since the surgery is highly effective but we want to be safe and ensure he has the best outcome possible. Dash also cannot be neutered or put under any anesthesia until his heart has been given the all clear. <br/>Dash is a very smart boy as shepherds are but his recall is not good at this point (he's only 4-5 months old) so a securely fenced yard is required. He knows sit especially if you have his favorite treat. He sleeps in a crate at night for a good 8 hours and rarely makes a peep. His potty training is going well but he is not fully there since well he's still a baby. He has never had an accident in his crate and will go potty on command outside while we are doing our leash potties. He has met a cat once for a few mere moments and just tried to sniff it but I am not comfortable saying he is cat friendly. Dash is a puppy with puppy claws and puppy teeth so a home with small children is not recommended since he likes to put all things possible in his mouth and this needs watched but he is learning drop it. <br/>He is a sweet boy that is a stunning purebred shepherd that needs his forever family that will be consistent and loyal in his training and care. <br/>The rescue will be covering his follow up visit to a cardiologist for his echo gram and no adoption will be finalized until after that. He just needs a shepherd savvy person to love, train and help mold him into the beautiful shepherd we all know they become. Ideally a home in the Middle TN area is preferred since the truth is he is loved boy but isn't the best fit for the founders senior shepherd and his needs. If approved foster to adopt is outside of TN we can arrange transport and the rescue is willing to drive a portion as well for the perfect home. <br/>Please if you think you can be this boys foster family with the goal to adopt reach out to the rescue so we can chat.
