Dash 1838-22's Story

Interview with Dash:
Interviewer: How did you arrive to the Animal Shelter?
Dash: Well, I was walking down the street looking for leftover Thanksgiving scraps when I noticed that someone pulled their vehicle over to the side of the road. I assumed they had some scraps for me, so I walked up to them and jumped into their vehicle and guess what, no scraps, how rude!!!! The man who picked me up told me that he didn’t want me to get hurt and took me to the Animal Shelter.
Interviewer: Did you like being at the Animal Shelter?
Dash: At first no, because there were a lot of rowdy dogs in the area I was staying at. It scared me a bit and I just stayed to myself, but then one day I went out for a walk and they put me in the Administrative Supervisors office, which was awesome. I went from a small apartment to a condo! A big upgrade.
Interviewer: What has changed since you arrived at the Animal Shelter?
Dash: A lot has changed! When I arrived at the Shelter, I was heartworm positive. I went into a foster home while going through my treatment. Thankfully, my treatment has been completed and starting March 15th, I can return to my normal activities, like playing fetch with a tennis ball and going for long walks! I cannot wait, I’m so excited for this day to arrive. Also, my foster parent wanted to adopt me, which I was super excited about because she has been one of the best foster parents that any dog could ask for, but unfortunately with inflation and being on a limited income, she cannot adopt me. But that’s okay because my forever family is out there, I just know it.
Interviewer: What do you look for in a family?
Dash: Okay, I am going to be a little picky here. I am a woman’s man, but if the woman I adore has a man in her home, I’ll be okay with that ONLY under these circumstances:
1) Men like to wear these weird things on their heads that scare me sometimes. My foster parent told me those are called "hats". Not sure what they do, but they sure do scare me and prefer they not be worn when I’m around.
2)No loud power tools in my presence. Those things scare me too.
Other than those 2 circumstances, I should be perfectly fine with a male in the home. What will not work for me is children. They scare me as well. Anytime I get scared, I tend to nip at their shoes. I guess it’s the Heeler in me that makes me do that.
I am not a fan of cats and I have never met a dog before, so I'm not sure how I'd do with them.
Interviewer: Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?
Dash: I love belly rubs, cuddling, sleeping on the couch and sleeping in my foster parents’ bed. I’m usually a couch potato, but sometimes I like to run around a bit. I am housetrained, but there are 2 things to know about that.
1) I can usually hold my "business" for some time, but if you are not around and I really have to use the bathroom, I try to become the Kool-Aid man and bust through the wall to get outside to use the bathroom. Trust me I know it sounds bad, but I do not want to make a mess in the home.
2) When you take me out to use the bathroom, it may take me a bit to find the right place, but once I find that place, that will become my forever bathroom.
Interviewer: I know you are currently in a foster home. How can adopters meet you?
Dash: They can contact the Animal Shelter at 678-965-7185 or email Adoptions@forsythco.com to set up an appointment to meet me.
