Darwin- Foster to Adopt's Story

After a little meet and greet in the yard- I found a little patch of sun for some portraits and got a few new "before" photos. His eyes look so much better as the puss is gone and while he still has a bit of a skin infection and is itchy, he will get better from here. This could be a reaction to an overload of fleas but he was surely allergic to the food at the shelter and what he was fed in his previous life, and we are eliminating poultry from his diet and switching him to my go to food - Earthborn Meadowfeast and Evanger's Lamb pate. Besides adding doxycycline to his treatment regimen, we are also worming, (panacur and droncit), and helping his gut heal with good immune system boosters and probiotics. The Advocate/ Advantage Multi will also help with any potential demodex mites and we will continue with some medicated shampoos. No doubt blood work will show underlying tick borne disease- and anemia. We'll find out soon. He is a super sweet puppy, and I love his 12 o'clock Pointer-like tail. Better days are ahead buddy!! I am super happy we are helping another Illinois Beagle in need!! We are looking for a foster to adopt home for Darwin in the Chicago area to help him recovery. In a month he is going to look like a new dog!! We do require homes with safe fenced in yards.

If you would like to sponsor Darwin's medical care or maybe help with the cost of his meds, supplements and food expenses, we have PayPal at illinoisbirddogrescue.org VENMO with @illinoisbirddogrescue and ZELLE with info@illinoisbirddogrescue.org

If you would like to help visit helpibr.org for our foster or adoption application.
You can also call Lisa@ 630-694-1359
