Darla and Pedro's Story
.These two Chihuahuas are looking for a home!...... Hopefully together!

We took Darla (tan Chihuahua) from Winnebago County Animal Services in early August when she made it to the euthanasia list due to fear and very high bite potential. Our trainer took her in as a foster and Darla is doing AMAZING! The municipal shelter was just a very scary place!

Pedro was a stray from the spring that was hanging around a Rockford elementary school. There were trapping efforts after him being out for weeks, and then he randomly ran into someone’s back door. He was also shy/fearful and went to our trainer for foster.

Pedro and Darla have become best friends, sleeping in a kennel together and hanging out exploring. We would LOVE for them to get adopted together as they both have similar placement needs. We know that may not be realistic, but we can dream!!!! Here’s their run down!

Pedro is about 5 years old and fully vetted. He weighs about 8#. Darla is 2-3 years old, fully vetted and weighs about 12#. Darla will now go right up to a stranger to be pet! She LOVES her neck and behind her ears scratched! Pedro initially barks a bit at a stranger but warms up quickly! He’s a fun little guy with personality all his own! Both of these dogs are cuddle bugs and would join you on the couch for tv time or a snooze! Both of them would need homes with fenced yards as both are flight risks if they were to get startled. They also need a home with children over 12 (younger visiting us fine) as fast hands can be scary! They are great with other small to small/medium dogs but are more fearful (scared) around larger dogs. While Pedro doesn't mind cats, Darla thinks they are there for her to chase! a home with no cats is ideal.

Their combined adoption fee is $300. If adopted on their own, $200. If you’re interested and your home meets the needs listed, please reach out! We will include our adoption link below! (Being all volunteers, we won’t be able to respond to applications that don’t meet the needs listed; apologies.)

https://form.jotform.com/careforpets/cfp-adoption-application
