Darby *IN FOSTER*'s Story

A message from Darby's foster mom: "Darby is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever cared for. She knows her name, she knows outside, eat, sit, down, come, off, no, pee pee, belly rub, treat and wait. We use wait when we are going up or down stairs so she never runs in front of us on the stairs. When we go outside we say pee pee and she pees right away.
Darby loves to run with the big dogs. She doesn't yet understand how to fetch a ball or play with us with a tug rope but she plays with toys by herself. Darby gets so excited when we ask her to go outside, she jumps and barks. We are working on being calm and she is so smart she picks up commands quickly. Always sits to get her leash on and off.
Because of her beginning in life our goal was to give her confidence and let her know she is safe. I believe she knows. Darby would be best in a home with patient people as she continues to gain confidence and learn human hands are for love and not harm and voices are always calm and not harsh. She is good with cats, other dogs, kids and all people so far. Never aggressive and no food aggression. She is a snuggle bug. Loves being touched and is jealous when we pet the other dogs.
When she is excited and barks she shows her front teeth and we say she is smiling. She is puppy pad trained but we take her out regularly so her housebreaking is going so well. She knows where she should potty. She continues to learn daily. Darby has been on adventures to the store and dog park and is just the best girl at traveling in the car. Although we cannot keep her she has succeeded in taking our hearts and our hope is she gets a furever family.
