Daphne's Story

Location: Burbank, SD

Daphne is a devoted mama dog who has lovingly raised her six puppies, pouring her whole heart into keeping them safe and nurtured. Her babies are now ready to find their forever homes, and it's finally Daphne's turn to be someone's priority.

Daphne is a gentle, sensitive soul but she is also a dog who needs an experienced, patient adopter who understands fearful dogs. As a rescue, we don't know her past, but it's clear she's had experiences that left her guarded. Sudden movements, unfamiliar objects, loud voices, or unfamiliar people can be frightening for her, and when she feels overwhelmed or cornered, Daphne may react defensively and has a bite history. Because of this, she requires a calm, adult-only home with someone committed to managing her environment and continuing her confidence-building work.

Daphne must be the only pet in the home. While she has coexisted with some dogs in her foster setting, she does best when she doesn't have to share space, attention, or resources. She is not suitable for homes with cats or small animals.

With time and trust, Daphne shows glimpses of the dog she's meant to be quiet, observant, affectionate, and deeply loyal. Once she feels safe, she enjoys gentle companionship and calm cuddles, often choosing to be near her person in her own thoughtful way. She doesn't rush relationships, but when she bonds, it's meaningful.

Daphne isn't looking for a loud or busy life. She needs consistency, patience, clear boundaries, and a peaceful home where she can decompress and continue to heal. In return, she offers a quiet, soulful presence and the chance to witness a dog slowly learn what safety and love truly mean.

Daphne doesn't need grand gestures just understanding, kindness, and the space to grow at her own pace. If you're an experienced adopter with a calm home and an open heart, Daphne may be the dog you've been waiting for.

---------------

The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org).

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration).

Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved.
