Dante's Story

Dante is searching for a home with someone who likes short walks, watching tv together, has no other dogs and not too many steps. He is fully house trained, crate trained, calm in the home, respectful with boundaries, and endlessly thoughtful with his people (even his vet). His foster dad says it best: "He's such an amazing dog - thoughtful, loving, and always checking in." When Dante arrived at Orphans back in May of last year, we knew he was special. But we didn't yet know just how strong this boy truly is. He first battled pneumonia... then faced a severe case of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever that left him feverish, exhausted, and hospitalized for nearly a week. Through it all, he stayed gentle, hopeful, and full of love.

And his journey didn't stop there. Three year old Dante is now thriving after his surgery to address a genetic condition causing arthritis and a bone abnormality. While surgery helped, he still lives with manageable pain and a noticeable limp. He takes Gabapentin and Carprofen every day and they seem to really help. He will benefit from an annual Adequan injection for arthritis - we're committed to continuing the care he needs to stay comfortable and happy.

Dante will go home with a $1,000 medical support stipend to help his adopter with future care. After everything he's overcome, Dante doesn't need sympathy - he just needs someone willing to see how incredible he truly is. Let's find this resilient boy the home he deserves. To inquire about him, or just meet him, reach out to our foster team at foster@orphansofthestorm.org
