Dante's Story

Dante is approximately 8 years old and has been through a lot recently. He was adopted to a very good home as a young dog that was very loved, but due to his owner’s disability, his owner could no longer care for him. Dante will require an adopter that has experience as a strong pack leader and understands the attention and work the cattle dog breed requires.

Dante is an Australian Cattle Dog mix and weighs about 70 lbs. He settled into his foster home quickly and follows his foster mom wherever she goes. He is very attentive, affectionate, loving, smart and sensitive. He would be perfect for someone looking for a best friend and loyal companion. Currently his daily routine consists of two walks and playtime in the backyard.

Dante is dog selective and it is recommended he be placed in a home as an only dog. A quiet home with no children would be ideal. He sleeps through the night in his crate. Dante is currently on weight management Purina One dog food and could lose 15lbs.

He is housebroken, crate trained, responds very well to his name and knows many commands. He absolutely loves walks and he is a dream on a leash!

He is available to adopt in the Chicagoland area and is being fostered in a home. Appointments to visit him will be set up for approved adopters only. Adoption fee is $200 which includes all appropriate vaccines and he is already neutered and microchipped. Please visit our website at http://newstartdogrescue.org and fill out an application if you think Dante would be a good match for you!
