Danica's Story
Danica - AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
Heeler Mix – Female – 45 lbs – 1.5 yrs (approx)
Foster Location: London
Sponsored by Toba, in honour of Toby and Penny. Every fur baby deserves a loving home and happiness
Looking for a loyal companion who lives to love you, follow you, and share every adventure life brings? Meet Danica—your future shadow, snuggle buddy, and everyday source of joy.
Danica is the very definition of a best friend. True to her breed, she wants nothing more than to be at your side—whether you’re relaxing on the couch, puttering around the house, or heading outside for fun. She adores her humans with her whole heart and will quickly become your most devoted little shadow.
Yes, she snores when she naps (and it’s adorable), but don’t let that fool you—Danica is an energetic young pup with a zest for life. She’s agile, strong, and shows real potential for agility or other dog-sport activities. She absolutely lights up when she is outdoors, romping with dog friends or exploring new sights and smells. A fenced yard where she can run freely would make her happiest, giving her space to stretch those speedy legs and burn off her puppy energy.
On walks, she’s curious, friendly, and eager to greet new dogs and people. She may pull at first but corrects easily and is learning more every day. Sniffing her way through the neighbourhood is one of her favourite pastimes.
Danica currently lives with three dogs and a cat. She gets along with them, but she loves her humans so deeply that she can become a little protective of their attention. Because of this, she would thrive as the only dog—or in a home experienced with her breed and willing to help her continue learning healthy boundaries. A confident, dog-savvy cat who isn’t afraid to set limits would be just fine with her.
She sleeps happily outside the crate with the other dogs, though the crate is used for cooling off when her puppy enthusiasm becomes a bit much for her furry roommates. She’s not food-aggressive, accepts treats with the gentleness of a lady, and is learning that counter-surfing is not the path to success. Her house training is improving steadily, but like many young dogs, she’ll need patience, consistency, and time to adjust in a new home.
At her core, Danica is a sweetheart who wants nothing more than to love and be loved. She bonds quickly and deeply, and once she chooses you, she chooses you forever. Her enthusiasm means she’s best suited for families with older children who can match her energy and understand her strength.
If you’re looking for a companion who will follow you anywhere, greet you with a full-body tail wag, curl up beside you at night, and adore you with unwavering loyalty, Danica is your girl. She’s ready to give her whole heart to the family who gives her a chance.
Open your home—and your heart—to Danica. She’ll fill both with love.
For more information, you may contact Patricia (foster parent) at potterpa@rogers.com
To fill out an adoption application for Danica, please visit our website: http://www.savemedogrescue.ca
**Adoptions within the province of Ontario only
