Dahlia is a senior dog at almost 12, but she is quite spry for her age. She has absolutely no teeth, but eats dry kibble perfectly fine. She does fine with other small dogs. Bigger dogs and cats have not been tested. Because she is so tiny, she will need to be in a home with either no kids or older kids. She has mobile luxating patellas that will need to be considered if she’s running on a hardwood or tile floor. She can easily injure them and possibly need surgery. In general, she tries to avoid walking on these types of floors because it appears to be a bit uncomfortable for her weak little legs/backend. She does have some toy/resource guarding issues. We’ve been working on this, but it really hasn’t gotten any better. So if she’s in a home with another dog, know that she WILL chase down and steal their toys if they are playing. We call her the minister of fun because any time anyone, dog or human, is having fun she gets all sassy lol. She is the best cuddle buddy you’ll ever meet. She loves to burrow under the blankets and snuggle on top of you. She is potty trained. She does fine in the car, but does need to be tethered because she does like to roam. She will need to be on a grain free diet, she came to us with the worst tear and mouth stains and the food we’ve been feeding her has finally cleared a lot of that up, especially around her mouth. Still working on her eyes. She does great on a leash. Local Charlotte area adoptions only.
An adoption fee of $250 includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, flea and heartworm preventatives if appropriate, and all medical costs while in our care.
