Daboa $99 ADOPTION FEE's Story

*PET INSURANCE WOULD NOT BE A REQUIREMENT FOR THIS DOG*

Daboa, born Feb 1, 2014, joined Mattie's Place May 2023, through an Ontario shelter when he was seized from his owners. He's a small boy, only 40 pounds.

He lived as a stud for breeding with a backyard breeder in horrible living conditions. He escaped his owners home and attacked a dog on the street, killing it. He also bit his owner who was trying to break up the fight.

DaBoa landed in an Ontario shelter after this incident and ongoing investigations with the owner.

One of DaBoa's ears had an old aural hematoma that was never treated, so he has a deformed ear, though his fur covers it up mostly. DaBoa also had double cherry eye which was corrected surgically.

January 29th, 2025 DaBoa was at the vet as one of his eyeballs has a haze over it. He still has vision. Glaucoma, eye ulcer, nuclear sclerosis, cataracts have all been ruled out. His eye pressure is good.

We're going to monitor DaBoa's senior dog eyeball and the vet feels, for now, no action needs to be taken.

Daboa has been with Mattie's Place for a really long time and he's been a great dog since arrival.

He exhibits no separation anxiety and is fully crate trained. He can be around other dogs, as long as he's muzzled. He has no leash reactivity and is fine on walks (should always be muzzled outdoors).

He loves to be cuddled like a baby and is super affectionate to those he trusts. His foster Mom calls him DaBoa DaBaby.

DaBoa is 11 years old. Chow Chow's have a lifespan of 8-12 years. He's just looking for a quiet home with dog experienced adopters who want to give him a quiet retirement lifestyle.

Daboa is a healthy dog, but has a behaviour past to own, but with management is quite an easy dog to own - providing the "rules of Daboa" are respected and followed.

FROM HIS FOSTER:

Daboa is the perfect gentlemen. His house manners are fantastic. He stays off the furniture, never counter surfs. He's never had a potty accident indoors.

He's also very quiet!

We really enjoy the mix of laid back and playful. Although his play is short lived, he likes to have his zoomies once a day.

Daboa's all time favourite past time is laying out on the deck watching out into the yard, most enjoyed on a sunny day.

Daboa has an aggressive dog label, but is generally easy to walk and manage in public around other dogs. He doesn't bark or lunge. He wears his muzzle just to be safe.

-----------------------
To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in his current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim, endorse, suggest or hint at, that any of our dogs are hypoallergenic, low shed or no-shed.

-----------------------
Adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical care required, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day.
