He doesn’t even realize that he’s missing a leg. He came to me from down south with all of his limbs. He had had surgery to repair a broken femur in his left rear leg and was doing well. Over the weeks we noticed that his left rear leg wasn’t getting any better and he was barely using it. We then found he had a non repairable fracture to his femoral head. Decisions were made and our cute Cupid became a tripod. It was a rough go for a bit, but now you would never know he had all 4 legs.

He is a high entry boy and loves to play with kids and other dogs, but is also a cuddler and a great sleeping partner. He is good with cats, but will chase them if they run from him. He is not the best with smaller animals like chickens or rabbits as he will chase and is a little to rough with them. His only concern is with food. He is protective of his food and does well fed in his crate away from others. We just make sure all the food bowls are up off the floor before everyone starts to play again.
Cupid is fully potty trained and crate trained. He does well in his crate while you are gone and overnight. He loves a good squeaky toy or bone to chew on and he is good for hours. We will even finding him resting in his crate during the day. Even with just 3 legs he loves walks and playing around in the yard with other dogs! If you are looking for an energetic boy who loves to snuggle he’s your guy! He would love to find his forever home with you!

***PLEASE READ*** WE DO NOT RESPOND TO PETFINDER OR EMAIL INQUIRIES. Speak for the Unspoken's Adoption Policy
Before completing our online application please read the following: Our adoption process involves multiple steps and it typically takes up to 2 weeks from the time we receive your application to the time your adoption is finalized. We reserve the right to deny any application without explanation. All of our dogs and/or puppies are in foster homes. We do not schedule “Meet and Greets” without an approved application. Our Adoption Fees start at $325 per dog, $75 per cat or kitten. We can adopt an animal ‘out of state’, but you must be willing to travel to where the pet is being fostered, and transport the animal yourself after the adoption. If you have other animals (dogs/cats) in your home, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention (dogs), and spayed/neutered. We will verify this with your veterinarian. If your animals are not up to date, your application will be denied. Please make sure to fully complete your application; leaving questions blank or not including all requested information will delay your application. Once your online application is submitted, it can take our volunteers 5 to 7 business days to process it. If we have questions about your application, we will email you. Please make sure to add our email, adopt@speakfortheunspoken.com to your email so our messages do not end up in your spam folder! Once your application is approved by the processors, it is sent to the person fostering the dog you have applied for. They will make the decision on whether the animal that you applied for is the right fit for you and your home. They may also choose to initially contact you via email or phone. If you do not respond promptly to their email or phone call, they will move on to the next applicant. Your application will be saved on file for 1 year and will be used for all dogs you would be interested in that time-frame. No need to keep filling out applications! Adoption application approval means you are approved to adopt an animal from us, it does not mean you are necessarily approved for the animal you applied for. There may be specific circumstances in your home that do not make it a good fit for one animal, but it may be a fine fit for another.
