Cupid's Story

Cupid was adopted from us in February but was recently returned after not getting along with other dogs. He's a friendly, excitable boy who's full of wiggles and loves attention! Cupid can get a little jumpy when greeting people and sometimes mouths when he's overexcited, but it's all part of his playful personality.
His previous owners noted that he can be unsure around men and needs time to warm up to new people. Once he trusts you, though, he's an affectionate goofball who loves walks, playing fetch, and spending time with his favorite toys.
Cupid is a clever and energetic dog-sometimes a little too clever! He's known to jump fences and dash out open doors, so a secure home environment is a must. With patience, consistency, and training, he'll thrive and become a wonderful companion.
He was reported to be housebroken but may need a quick refresher after shelter life. Cupid does fine in a crate for short periods, though he may try to escape if left too long or bored. He walks on leash but can be a strong puller, so keeping him on a short leash and continuing leash training will help.
Cupid needs to be the only dog in the home and is not recommended with cats.
He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on prevention.

Cupid is ready to find an active, patient home where he can get the exercise, structure, and love he deserves!

Erath County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
When someone comes in wanting to adopt, we first ask what they are looking for in a new pet. If they can describe what they are looking for, we will make some suggestions based on that criteria, and then let them go through the shelter looking at the adoptable animals. There are kennel cards on each kennel with information specific to that animal. Once they find an animal they are interested in we do a meet and greet with the person interested in adopting. If they have other pets, we recommend a meet and greet with current pets as well. Whatever animal the potential adopter chooses, we highly suggest a 5 day foster period to make sure the animal and the adopter are a good fit.
