Cucumber - Mild-Mannered, Trained's Story

Cucumber's greatest hits: https://tinyurl.com/yra99uu3

My heart fills with love with I think of Cucumber. I've been fostering him since Oct 2023, and have treated him as my own. He has made amazing strides during that time, and I know will only shine brighter with continued guidance and nurturing.

Cucumber is mild-mannered and has already had more foundational training under his belt than most dogs have in their lifetime. He's about 80 lbs, 1.5 years old, and a beautiful mix of Siberian husky, German shepherd, American Staffie, pittie, and a touch of doberman. His age, size, and mix may lead you to think he's a handful but such is not a case at all.

Some of his qualities:

* Housetrained

* Crate-trained. He LOVES his crate!

* Professional trained. Has undergone board & train, as well as hundreds of hours of training.

* Quiet.

* Walks well on leash.

* Rides calmly in the car.

* Great off-leash.

* Highly food-motivated -- great for training!

* Tolerant with being handled by those he trusts. He doesn't mind having his nails dremeled, teeth brushed, or being given a bath.

* A follower who wants to please. He just needs to understand what you're asking of him.

* Some commands that have been introduced: sit, down, stay, roll over, spin, wait, look, with me, leave it, heel. Also trained to be comfortable with a gentle leader, soft cone of shame, and muzzle, to wait at the door before being released, and extended down-stays.

* Good with most dogs. (Note: he is very vocal when playing and makes growly and barky noises, which may be off-putting to some dogs--and humans--not familiar with this, but it is just his form of play.)

* More on the submissive side. Easily corrected.

* Would be fine as an only dog or in a multi-dog household.

* Loves to fetch. He will bring the ball back.

* Loves water.

* Not high energy.

* Mellow and well-behaved in the house.

* Affectionate but not needy.

* SUPER lovable!

Things that need improvement:

* Occasional reactivity on leash when he sees other dogs but is not allowed to approach them. This is more from excitement.

* Barks at strangers who enter the property, or when he is in his crate.

* Nervous at vet.

Every single person who has spent quality time with Cucumber knows what a wonderful dog he is. His disposition is so good-natured. He is a devoted companion and the best side-kick. He'll make you laugh and fill your heart with immense joy, as he's done for me. It has been an honor to help this boy blossom, and I hope his new family appreciates him as much as I do, and as much as he deserves.

Watch Cucumber's complete playlist here:
https://tinyurl.com/2s39k33b

Adoption requirements:
* minimum 24 years of age
* $500 adoption fee to cover part of his professional training fees (over $5000 has been spent on training)
* 2-3 private training sessions with the professional trainer that worked with him. This is covered by the adoption fee.
