Crystal's Story

Crystal came into rescue with 4 other dogs. We were contacted by a friend of the owner who asked if we could place the dogs because she stated that they were all being kept outside in kennels and she really wanted them to be a part of a family, living inside and enjoying the good life. Crystal is a friendly girl who enjoys a laid back lifestyle. She is alittle timid at first but warms up quickly. She would love a family that she could cuddle up with on the couch and just chill. We were told that Crystal is approximately 10 years old and is a chihuahua mix (maybe with minpin). M
Although she is 10 years old, she acts and looks much younger. She seems to do well with other small dogs but doesn't seem to be a huge fan of the bigger dogs. She should be fine with kids as she is friendly and loves people. Kids should respect her space though and as long as they are able to do that, she should do well with them. Kids that are grubby or don't understand how to respect a dog and their space may not be the right fit for Crystal. She would probably do best in a home with semi active adults and/or homebodies. We do not have any information about how she does with cats as she has lived In a kennel for most of her life and to our knowledge, hasn't been around any yet. We think that with proper introductions that she has a personality that would do fine but it is important that if you have cats, you take normal precautions to ensure safety for all. Because Crystal has lived most of her life in a kennel outside, she will need to be housetrained so please be prepared to put in the work and effort to get her housebroken. She seemed to do well in a crate but she is used to being confined so it makes sense a crate would be comfortable for her and her "norm". We do not know if she is leash trained so she may need alittle training with that also. We think Crystal will make a wonderful companion as she has a great temperament, is a happy little girl who enjoys companionship. She deserves a couch, a family to love and a life of leisure.
Crystal saw the vet on 9/19/25 and was found to have no issues noted on her exam. She tested negative for heartworms and has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention. She also did test negative on her fecal. Crystal weighed 13.66 pounds as of 9/19/25.
If interested in giving Crystal her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Crystal's adoption fee will be $200 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Crystal based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
