CRYSTAL's Story
INSIGHTS FROM MY FRIENDS/CARETAKERS: Crystal is the most adorable little fawn and she loves to play fetch! After a peaceful walk through the woods, she ran directly to the enclosed pen to play with her ball. She would have played fetch forever! She is the gentlest and most graceful little lady! Crystal is super happy and loving! She greeted me and my 8 and 11 year olds perfectly, with enthusiasm but no jumping. She welcomed pets and scritches and seemed very person-oriented. She knows sit and lay and waited patiently for treats. She seems super bright (and food motivated) so I’m sure she could learn other commands. We took a walk in the woods and Crystal wanted to be in front, but didn’t pull on the leash. She found a couple of smells she got excited about, sticking her nose in the leaves and wagging her tail, but mostly was focused on the trail ahead. She is so loving. She leaned her head into my legs when I was scratching her face and ears. We didn’t have a couch involved in our outing, but I bet she’d be an A+ snuggler. So sweet and kind, she is very energetic to play and has such a great personality. Crystal is a sweetheart! She immediately gave me a friendly greeting and was ready to get out and go. She hopped right into the car, and we made our way down to Carolina Forest. She did some barking in the car, probably because she was so excited. We did a nice long hike around the forest trails, and Crystal was so well behaved! She was excellent on leash and passed other walkers, dogs and runners with no issue at all. She very much enjoyed playing with some sticks and branches along the way; it seems the bigger, the better! What a beautiful and friendly pup! Did wonderful on our walk! Hiked 3 miles and Crystal still had a bunch of energy, very energetic! Was very sweet and listened throughout the whole walk, only slightly pulling on the leash. Great with strangers, wanted to go up and get pets & ignored the other dog on the trail. Only negative was that she barked a bunch on the car ride. She is super sweet and smart! Crystal was so sweet and energetic! She is very smart and food motivated and definitely trainable. She knows sit, stay, down, and paw! She pulls a little while walking but does well otherwise - she shows very little interest in other dogs and can be distracted with a treat. She unfortunately does not do well in the car and seems fearful/starts barking as soon as the door closes. She tried to escape the car, so a crate would likely be best. She is so friendly and sweet! Since we couldn't drive anywhere, we just walked around the shelter. She was very curious and sniffed a lot of things and went potty soon after we started walking. She's so cute and energetic! I think she'd be snuggly as well given the right context since she gave me hugs every time I crouched down. Crystal absolutely LOVES to play ball! She will play as long as you are willing. She is very athletic and agile so may enjoy training in agility sports, possibly fly ball or dock diving.. We took her for a 2+ mile hike, which she enjoyed. We think she would likely be a good running partner as she has energy to spare. She did pull some on leash but is easy to control. Crystal is very smart and treat motivated so should be easy to train. She already knows sit and down. Crystal is a sweet girl and loves people. She barks in the car but rarely barks otherwise. We loved taking Crystal out! She is sweet, affectionate, and incredibly smart. She also has lots of energy and endurance. We took her on a 5 mile hike at Carolina North Forest and she did great! She pulled lightly on the leash at times, but never pulled hard. She was alert and interested in everything. She did not react to other people or dogs on the trail, except to wag her tail whenever we passed someone else. We tried running with her for about a quarter mile and she was an excellent running partner, running straight ahead on the trail and not trying to stop or sniff anything during the run. She has a really sweet spirit and was fun to hike with. The only negative was that she barked a lot in the car. She didn't bark a single time during the hike, so there is something about the car that is a trigger for her. Other than that, she was fantastic! Crystal was so fun to have for the day! She was so sweet, well behaved, and excited to have a day out! She is definitely a playful dog who loves people, but also can be very cuddly. She is very energetic and playful but also super well behaved and a good listener. Such an intelligent dog! She needs an owner that will train her well and gives her a bunch of attention. She would do SO well with a job. She loves sticks more than life itself. She is super energetic and smart. Learns quickly and very sweet. She does jump some and pull but not in a mean way. Would do good as a working dog with a job. Is very responsive to commands and tasks.
