Crystal's Story

Crystal is an 8 year old princess chihuahua / beagle mix.

Crystal is in her mommy-makeover glow-up era during her time in foster home at WaggyTail Rescue. She has gone through benign tumor surgeries and dental procedures and is feeling in tip-top shape and ready to find her forever home.

Crystal is currently being fostered in the Upper East Side of Manhattan and very much enjoys an easy life of lounging, listening to jazz (really!) and cuddling up next to any warm human body.

In her true princess personality, Crystal only likes to walk short distances and you're lucky to make it around a block. If you're looking for a walking or running companion, she is not your match :)

Crystal has gained weight during her time in foster care and is now 13 pounds and could fill out 2-3 more pounds. With her resistance to long walks, she is looking for a future new owner(s) who can comfortably pick her up and carry her with the support of two hands. Crystal much prefers going to a park or out to brunch when carried in a sling. She does great in-sling on the bus and train.

Crystal is house-trained and enjoys laying on her blanket on the couch for most of the day. At night time, she would do best with an owner(s) who would happily let her sleep in the bed with them. She likes to cuddle close and enjoys being under the covers at times. For both the couch and bed, Crystal needs stairs to get on/off the furniture.

When coming into foster care, Crystal had severe separation anxiety and would not be well when left alone. She has worked to overcome this by leaps and bounds, but took almost a month of her feeling secure in her new environment.

Crystal has previously lived in a home with other small dogs and would possibly prefer a home that would give her a furry sibling. When approaching dogs on walks, Crystal's bark can come out and sound aggressive, but with leash resistance and training she is able to move past.

Crystal is trained to go potty outside, with walks every 4-5 hours. At her foster home, she also has pee pads that she uses, but is still having indoor accidents off the pad a couple times a week. She will need additional training.

We recommend that Crystal go to a home with older (teenage) children who can appreciate and respect her boundaries.

Crystal is an absolute sweetheart and is looking for an all-star new owner(s) who will give her all the love she deserves. She is looking for a relaxing home.

Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Crystal, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
