Cruise's Story
Cruise spent some time in a foster home, and this is what we have learned about him:

Cruise is a very sweet and calm boy. He was shy at first but opened up quite quickly. He’s still a curious little pup but also knows when to stay out of the way while we were doing things like cooking and eating, he’s got no problem laying down with a few toys and watching. He loved to follow us around to whichever room we were in and just to be around us...even if it meant getting tangled up in our legs sometimes haha. Another big plus was we found him to shed very little, there was a bit of winter coat but we helped brush it out. He wasn’t excited to jump up into vehicles but once in he would stay in the back seat and lay down or look out the windows.

In days we were able to foster Cruise, we found he responded very well to reward/treat based training; he was able to get pretty good at the command sit and was learning to lay down and stay. We found he best answered to calls with clapping or patting against your leg, but his name and whistling would work if there weren’t too many distractions. We had him off leash a few times and loved to run around and play; his fetch skills involved running in the direction you threw and sometimes finding it...it was pretty cute. Once back inside he would calm down quickly and had a good understanding of inside behaviour; we didn’t find him to be destructive unless it was chewing on toys or things we let him chew on. He was a big fan of empty cardboard boxes, the squeaky moose and for some reason loved to nibble on the tags of his toys and clothes on the floor haha.

We had him around some kids and other dogs and found as long as it was a slow introduction he was okay. When introductions weren’t to his liking he was more scared and would try to get away instead of barking or growling. We didn’t get too close to any cats, but if he saw one he would sit and watch them as they moved around, but never tried to chase them.

We very rarely heard him bark; the only time he barked inside was when there was a big commotion at night next door that startled us all! He would sometimes softly bark or gently growl when other dogs would walk by outside until they were introduced.
