Cover 's Story

Cover 🤍
A sensitive soul with a playful spark

Cover was one of the three young hounds who arrived scared, unsure, and carrying more questions than answers. Like his brothers, he’s still learning what safety feels like — but the progress he’s made has been quietly incredible.
Cover may start off cautious, especially with new people or busy environments. He likes to take things slow at first, watching, sniffing, and deciding when he’s ready. But give him that time… and you’ll meet a very different dog.

✨ Once Cover warms up:
He becomes affectionate and seeks out gentle touch
He loves having his head petted and will nudge you for more
He enjoys calm companionship and walking right by your side
He settles nicely after play and can relax quietly with his people

🐕 Cover with other dogs:
Has done very well in playgroups
Matches energy and play style beautifully
Enjoys playful moments but isn’t overbearing
Does best with dogs who respect his space and cues

🌿 Things Cover enjoys:
Long, slow walks with lots of sniffing
Exploring brushy areas and outdoor enrichment
Car rides (he rode very well!)
Gentle training sessions and learning new things
Calm interactions that let him build confidence at his own pace
Cover can be unsure when there’s a lot of noise, barking, or sudden movement — and that’s okay. He communicates by slowing down, hesitating, or sticking close to his person. When handled with patience and understanding, he responds with trust and affection.

💙 Cover isn’t a “rush in and go” kind of dog.
He’s a build-a-bond kind of dog.
The kind whose love feels extra special because you earned it.
He’s looking for:
A calm, patient home
People who understand shy dogs
Gentle introductions to new people and environments
Someone who will let him grow into himself

If you’re the type of person who celebrates small wins…
If you believe confidence comes from kindness…
If you want a dog who will quietly choose you once he feels safe…
Cover is waiting. 🐾🤍

Stop in during business hours or submit an application at www.mcwvanimalshelter.com
