Tuktuk is a sweet, affectionate 2.5-year-old Lab mix who is looking for a patient and loving forever home. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea and heartworm prevention. He is also kennel trained, house-trained (no chewing or accidents inside), and knows basic commands like sit, shake, come, and go to bed.

TukTuk is extremely well-behaved indoors and thrives with positive reinforcement. He responds very well to training aids such as a beeping collar and is partially leash trained.

He has a playful, curious nature and absolutely loves attention. However, he can be anxious in new environments or when left without enough interaction. While he warms up quickly with people, new or unexpected situations can initially scare him. A stable, patient home would help him continue to build his confidence.

Because of his energy level and adjustment challenges, TukTuk may be better suited for a home without small children or other dogs. He currently lives with another dog and does well, but transitioning to new animals or environments can be difficult for him. After a recent move, he showed some food guarding behaviors (likely from being a former grazer around another dog’s competition), but has done well with structure and support.

He would do best in a home with a secure, tall fence (he has a history of jumping fences) or with owners who can commit to supervised outside time and enrichment. He has been prescribed trazodone to help his situation, particularly related to keeping him from escaping and being outside unsupervised.

TukTuk is not aggressive — his veterinarian described him as anxious but friendly, with a loud bark that can sound intimidating when he’s scared. He does not jump up on people and is very obedient when given the time, attention, and structure he needs.

He will make an incredibly loyal and loving companion for someone willing to continue helping him feel safe, supported, and engaged.
